The Difference Between The Cleveland Clinic In Ohio and Mayo Clinic in Minnesota-My Personal Experience

There are differences between the two clinics and I would like to give you my perspective. This is clearly my experience and my review, and I am not giving any suggestions at all.

Differences in the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Each are great places for care, but there are differences. Read my information I have supplied and this way if you are contemplating either one, it may help you.

I am giving you some information if you ever need to go to Cleveland, Ohio for the Clinic or just to go visit. Unfortunately, I went to the Clinic, but I would like to share some of my experience as to where you can stay and some attractions that were nearby if you are wanting to have fun. I can tell you that Rochester didn't have as many attractions as Cleveland. Most people that are in Rochester either work there, or are sick. The people going in and out of both places is phenomenal. It's literally crazy. It's heart wrenching to think all the people, including me, who are begging for help and it seems these places are almost your lost hope.

What is Cleveland Clinic Like

The Clinic is right downtown Cleveland. I never drove, as my husband did all the driving, but I do know that it was a little confusing at first, if you don't know the area. A lot of different buildings as there are a lot of different parts of the Clinic you may need to be at .

I must say, that parts of the Clinic are just beautiful. You get the sense as you walk in, that this is the place where you need to be if you need help. Maybe it was just a personal feeling, but as you look at all the people that were there, they all had that same look. Honestly, I prefer Cleveland over Mayo. Again, that's from my experience, as I'm not suggesting you go to one place over the other for health problems, I don't want that on my shoulders.

What is Mayo Clinic Like

Now, the difference between them both from my perspective is that Mayo seems to be very well organized for one. You also get the sense of this is where you need to be. I don't mean to confuse you. Mayo is so professional looking and organized, that you feel like you are a number, and not a person. If that makes any sense to you at all. Cleveland, is also very professional looking, but it has the feel of you being a person, and not a number.

Does Mayo Clinic Keep You Until They Find Out What's Wrong?

The other thing with Mayo is that your stay up there is usually 2 to 3 days at a time as they run tests all day long, have you come back the next day for more, and so on. Then, you travel back home to find out you have to go back up for another 2 or 3 days for more tests, stay in your motel/hotel, and repeat.

With Cleveland, I didn't get that so-called run around. (Again, this was My own personal experience) If they can't figure it out, you don't travel all the way back home, to come back at a later date for more tests. They really try hard the first time so you don't have to go back and forth.

This number is the main number to the clinic. You can also go to their website and get a direct number to a specific area. The website is really informative and even tells you about each Dr. and their background and education, experience, etc., so you will be more comfortable knowing what kind of Dr. you are dealing with and if you think he can help you.

We all want information on the best and most reasonable places to stay especially if we need to be there a few days. These are purely my experiences and would like to pass them to you.

At the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN, we stayed at the Kahler Inn and Suites. This was a little pricey however you are only there for a few days at most at one time unless you are going for surgery or therapy of course. This was a few dollars higher than other because of the location. You could literally take the elevator down to the bottom level and it was underground walk to the clinic which made it extremely convenient especially if you were up there during the winter months. For longer stays, I suggest staying at one of the Inns as they usually have discounts for week long stays. We ended up at Extended Stay America and were very pleased. Had a kitchen, microwave, oven, refrigerator. Very nice and was about 40 dollars a day. That is a weekly rate, and it is even cheaper if you stay longer. Shuttle picked us up even which made it even nicer. Again, make sure you ask for the MAYO RATE.

Hotels That Are Close To The Cleveland Clinic

They do have Hotels/Motels that give you the Cleveland Clinic rate, so be sure to always ask for that if you are staying up there for any amount of days. I highly recommend the Hilton Garden Inn. It's only a few miles from the Clinic and it has everything you pretty much need. A restaurant, a shuttle, a pool, etc. The rates are on the Clinic rates as well. Our stay was about $89 a night. It's a 3 star Hotel, but doesn't make you pay out the nose for decency and accommodations.

Across the street from the Hotel is the Cleveland Stadium. My family went over to watch the Browns game, and I could see them walking across the street.

Here are just a few things you can go to while you are in Cleveland either at the clinic or on vacation. I heard the mall was huge and beautiful. I wish I could have seen it first hand to tell you, but there are plenty of pictures on the internet you can see. I put one up for you.

Places To Visit While In Cleveland

I wasn't physically able to do go to these places, but I made my family go. Cleveland is a very busy city. I will give them that. I never seen so many people walking around and the traffic, oh lord, the traffic!..

• Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

• Cleveland Museum of Art
• Old Stone Church
• Cedar Point (Sandusky, Oh)

In Sandusky, OH which is about an hour away from Cleveland, my family went to the theme park. It was Cedar Point. They said they had a blast.
